In Off Roading Andes 20 Days we’ll travel and know the South Peru Tour in an off-road vehicle (4x4). we’ll begin in Lima, the capital of Peru. we’ll cross the Andes to get to Cusco. we’ll visit the Machu Picchu, continuing to the Lake Titicaca, Arequipa, the Nazca Lines and ending back to Lima.
ITINERARY
Day 1: LIMA
Travel to Lima.
Once in Lima, our guide will be waiting for us at the airport.
Transfer to the hotel. Accommodation and welcome dinner with our guide.
Day 2: LIMA - HUANCAYO
At 9 in the morning, we’ll begin our journey with our 4x4 vehicle. We’ll leave Lima and begin the rise up to 4.800 m. until Ticllo Pass. Along the way, we will see the world's highest train tracks. After 380 kilometres we’ll arrive in Huancayo (3,300 m.).

Day 3: HUANCAYO – HUANCAVELICA
Early in the morning, we’ll visit the Convent of Santa Rosa de Ocopa (eighteenth century) which has an important library of 20,000 books. Then we will begin the journey across the Cordillera Central to Huancavelica(3,600 m.). Depending on the availabilities in the "Tren Macho" we’ll be able to do this ride on this train.

Day 4: HUANCAVELICA - AYACUCHO
Today we’ll visit the colonial centre. Then we’ll go to the village of Sacsamarca, and to the old mine of Santa Bárbara too. At the end of the tour we will go down in the valley of the Mantaro River and continue to the city ofAyacucho (250 Km. to 2.800 m.).

Day 5: AYACUCHO
Ayacucho is the city of the churches. Here we will have all the morning to know: the cathedral and the churches of the Compañía de Jesús, of San Francisco de Assis, of Santo Domingo and of Santa Clara. Then we will visit the Pampa de la Quinua where, between Spanish and Peruvians, in 1.821 was fought the last battle for the independence of Peru. Then we’ll go to the pre-Inca ruins of Wari (450/900 A.D.).

Day 6: AYACUCHO – ANDAHUAYLAS
We will start at 8 in the morning to continue crossing the Andes. After 265 km. we’ll be arriving, in the afternoon, to Andahuaylas (3.150 m.): this place is well known as "the land of the potato", with more than a thousand varieties cultivated.

Day 7: ANDAHUAYLAS - CUSCO
We will continue our journey through the Andes, travelling along the city of Abancay (2.700 m.) which is the capital of the Region of Apurímac. Then we’ll visit Sayhuite, where there’s the Inca stone that has more than 200 geometric and zoomorphic drawings. In the afternoon we’ll arrive to the city of Cusco.

Day 8: CUSCO (City Tour)
Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire (3,300 m.). Its name in Quechua means "Navel of the world". This city was the capital of the Inca Empire. It has many interesting places to see. Today we’ll visit the archaeological ruins nearby: Tambomachay, Q’enqo, Puka Pukara and the fortress of Saqsayhuaman.

Day 9: CUSCO - URUBAMBA – MACHU PICCHU
At 9 in the morning, we’ll take the bus to the Inca’s Sacred Valley (so named for its fertility). We’ll visit the typical market in Pisaq. After lunch we will go to the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo. In the afternoon we’ll take the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo (1.900 m.).

Day 10: MACHU PICCHU - SACRED VALLEY
Early in the morning we’ll climb by bus for 14 km. to the Machu Picchu (2,500 m.). Guided tour of the lost city of the Incas. We’ll be also able to do part of the Inca Trail up to the Inti Punku (Sun’s Gate). In the afternoon, we’ll descend to Machu Picchu Pueblo, and then we’ll take the train to Ollantaytambo.

Day 11: PICHINGOTO - MORAY - CHINCHERO – CUSCO
In the morning, we’ll visit the saltworks of Pichingoto, the Inca ruins of Moray (which were a nursery made for cultivating tropical plants in the Andes) and also the Inca/Spanish village of Chinchero. Transfer to Cusco, afternoon free.

Day 12: CUSCO - PUNO
Today we’ll travel with our off-road vehicles on the southern Peruvian highlands. Along the way we will visit the most important tourist places (Raqchi, which are Inca ruins), arriving after 400 km. to Puno (town on the Titicaca lake at 4.000 m.).

Day 13: PUNO - UROS - TAQUILE (visiting the floating islands)
Early in the morning, transfer to the port of Puno, to make the tour of the Uros floating Islands and even of the Island of Taquile, where we’ll see the way of life of their inhabitants. Return to Puno in the afternoon.

Day 14: PUNO - COLCA CANYON
In the morning we’ll leave the city of Puno to go to the Colca Canyon (one of the deepest in the world). Along the road we will see the vicuñas (American camelids that only live in the Andes of Peru, Chile and Bolivia). In the afternoon we’ll arrive in Chivay (3,200 m.). Accommodation, and then we’ll be able to have a tour of the village or even go to the baths of Calera.
Day 15: COLCA CANYON – AREQUIPA
Early in this morning, we’ll go to the Cross of the Cóndor, where we’ll be able to see cóndores flying close to us on one of the deepest canyons in the world. Return to Chivay, and then we’ll continue travelling to Arequipa (2,700 m.). Once there, transfer to the hôtel, and City Tour in the afternoon.

Day 16: AREQUIPA, city of the volcanoes (visiting the city)
Half day tour of the city of Arequipa: we’ll visit the Main Square, the baroque churches and the monasteries of Santa Catalina and of the Jesuits. Free afternoon.

Day 17: AREQUIPA – NAZCA
Today we will take a long leg northward along the Pan-American Highway. We’ll travel almost all the time beside the sea (Pacific Ocean) until Nazca (800 m./560 km.). Along the way we’ll pass the town of Camaná. We will arrive in Nazca in the afternoon.

Day 18: NAZCA – PARACAS
Early in the morning, we’ll go to the Nazca Airport for the flight over the famous Nazca Lines. Later, we will continue travelling in our cars for 220 km. towards Paracas, arriving in the afternoon.

Day 19: PARACAS – LIMA
In the morning we will do the tour to the Ballestas Islands (where we’ll see the marine wildlife of the Pacific Ocean). Then we’ll continue our journey northbound until Lima (270 km.).
Farewell dinner. Accommodation in hôtel.
Day 20: LIMA
City Tour of old Lima. End of our services.
