It is celebrated every year on June 24th in Cusco, Peru and was once the most important ceremonial day of the Incan empire – Tawantinsuyu. Early in the morning our guide will pick up to go to the bus station.
We'll take one of the first buses to Machu Picchu. This journey takes about 25 minutes. Once in Machu Picchu our guide will give us some good directions to visit the archaeological site. We will begin to visit Machu Picchu from where you can observe the classic image of Machu Picchu, after which we will begin to walk the streets and major buildings in the sanctuary. It will take about two hours, after which we can explore Machu Picchu on your own. Depending on the time of departure of the train, take the direct bus to Aguas Calientes.
We then take the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo.
