The Abra de Málaga is located in the south-east of Peru, in the province of Ollantaytambo, within the department of Cusco, at approximately 4200 meters above sea level. It is home to a great variety of flora and fauna, but especially for bird lovers, where you can observe different species such as the Tijeral Leonado (Leptasthenura Yanacensis), the Churrete Real (Cinclodes Aricomae), the Torito de pecho cenizo (Anairetes Alpinues), the Tijeral de Ceja Blanca (Leptasthenura Xenothorax), the Fringilo Plomizo Serrano (Prygiles Unicolor), among many others.
At approximately 4:00hrs, we look for our hotel guests in our private car, to go to the Abra de Málaga, at different points we can see a diversity of birds that are of great importance for ecotourism as it contains a very important habitat for many species of birds.
We start from the eastern side of the Málaga mountain in order to find high Andean birds such as chestnut front canastero, mountain pitajo, hummingbird rayito de sol, bearded mountain hummingbird, torito llano, cockroachero, hemispimgus de Parodi, dormilonas, climbers, antpitas, pincha flores, perdice, among others.
At noon we will enjoy our box lunch surrounded by the high Andean flora and in the afternoon, we will head towards the western side of the mountain in search of more species of birds. Around 17:00hrs, return to Cusco.
