It is home to a great diversity of plants and animals, being the most outstanding and regularly seen animal: the Andean Condor, a flying bird considered the heaviest and largest in the world. In addition, in this tour, you will have the opportunity to do a descent in bicycle for approximately 20 km surrounded by the spectacular high Andean landscape of the zone. Approximately at 07:30 hrs, we start the trip to the Colca Canyon. We will pass by the National Reserve of Aguada Blanca and Salinas, where you can see majestic vicuñas, South American camelid, national symbol of Peru and we will continue in our transport to Patapampa at 4.900 msnm aprox, the highest part of the route surrounded by the western mountain range, volcanoes and snowed like: Walka Walka, Sabancaya and Ampato, from this point we will take our equipment of cycling and we will begin the exciting descent of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes until Chivay, in the way we will appreciate a great variety of flora and typical fauna of the zone and a wide panoramic view of the unevennesses and geological terraces formed during the erosion of the Canyon of the Colca. Upon arrival in Colca, we will have lunch and head to our hotel where we will spend the night. Optional visit to the thermal baths of Calera.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will visit the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, where we will be able to appreciate the depth of the Colca Canyon and enjoy the flight of the Andean Condor. On the way back, we will visit the towns of Yanque, Pincholo and Maca.
Lunch in Chivay, then return to Arequipa where we will arrive around 18:00hrs or continue our trip to Puno (transfer available for an additional cost).
