The Colca Canyon, located 4 hours from Arequipa, is considered one of the deepest canyons in America (4160 meters deep) and an extension of approximately 100kms. It is habitat of great diversity of plants and animals, the most prominent animal that is seen with greater regularity is the Andean Condor, flying bird considered the heaviest and largest in the world.
Puno located at 3,855 meters above sea level, is an important corridor for tourists traveling between Peru and Bolivia or vice versa, a fantastic place to visit, full of culture, history and magnificent places like the highest navigable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca.
Around 07:30hrs, we pick up our passengers at their hotels in Arequipa, in the direction of the deepest canyon in the world. We will pass through the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca, and the Pampa Cañahuas where you can see majestic vicuñas(That is a South American camelid/national symbol of Peru), and a variety of migratory birds. We will make a stop in Patapampa at 4,800 meters above sea level, the highest part of the route, to observe the western mountain range and the volcanoes. We will arrive in Chivay at approximately 13:30hrs, we arrange our belongings in the hotel and at the end of the afternoon, we will visit the thermal baths of Calera.
After breakfast, we will visit the viewpoint of Condor Cross, where we can appreciate one of the deepest canyons in the world(the Colca) and enjoy a nice view of the flight of the Andean Condors in this impressive place. Upon return, we will visit the nice local towns of Yanque, Pincholo and Maca.
After lunch, we start the trip to Puno, stopping at the viewpoint of Lagunillas, a strategic place where are some lakes that look like mirrors reflecting the sky and diversity of birds, like flamenco. At approximately 20:00hrs, we will arrive to Puno.
